John Taylor, Sharon Smith and Craig Worsley are the principals of Taylors Solicitors and head a dedicated team of professionals made up of one employed solicitor Geoff Govey, two conveyancing paralegals, six secretaries and three administration officers.

We are a dedicated team and pride ourselves on working for you with a great deal of sensitivity and with the least amount of cost. We keep up to date with the law and technology.

The Taylors Solicitors team are backed up by a specialist team of Barristers, Medical Practitioners and Computer Technologists whenever necessary.

John Taylor (LL.B)
John graduated from Queensland University in 1976. He then completed his Articles with Roberts & Kane Solicitors in Brisbane.

For the next three years John was employed by James Barry & Co (now Mr. Justice Barry of the Family Court of Australia) before becoming the sole practitioner of John Taylor & Co. which is now the firm of Taylors Solicitors. John was a Director of the Mackay Port Authority between 1990 and July 2002 and was then Chairman from 2002 to 2005

Sharon Smith (B.E.C / LL.B Hons )
Sharon was born in Mackay. She graduated from the Australian National University in 1984 after obtaining  a degree in Bachelor of Economics/Laws (with Honours). On returning to Mackay Sharon was initially employed by John Taylor & Co. as an Articled Clerk and later as an employed solicitor.

In 1990 she moved to Western Australia and gained employment with the Rural and Industries Bank of Western Australia and remained there as a commercial litigation solicitor for a period of 2 years. Sharon is admitted as a Solicitor in Queensland and a Barrister and a Solicitor in Western Australia.

In July 1992 Sharon returned to employment with John Taylor & Co. and in 1993 was admitted as a partner to the firm now known as Taylors Solicitors.

Sharon is also a member of the Council of Central Queensland University and a member of Port of Mackay Rotary Club

Craig Worsley (LL.B)
Craig was born in Sydney and graduated from the University of Queensland in 1992. He was employed as an Articled Clerk by John Taylor & Co. After completing his Articles he was employed as a Solicitor. Craig became a partner of the firm on January 1, 2000.

Geoffrey Govey

Geoff was born in Townsville, however grew up in Adelaide where he attended Norwood High School and then Adelaide University where he studied Electrical Engineering for 2 years before embarking on a working holiday around Australia.

He worked in a variety of occupations and locations before commencing a law degree in 1996 whilst working part time. He started his Articles of Clerkship with Barry Beaverson & Stenson in 2001 and remained with that firm until it was taken over in June 2002, whereupon he was employed by Taylors Solicitors in July 2002.

Geoff was admitted to practice as a Solicitor on the 7th day of March 2003.
