Preparing your Will
Before visiting your solicitor to prepare a will you should consider a
number of factors.
- Who do you want to be appointed as executor of your will
- Who do you want to be appointed as guardian to your children
- What are your current assets and liabilities
- Who do you want to receive your assets
- How would you like to provide for your children's future
Changes to your Will
You can change your Will at any time and as often as you wish. If getting
married, your current Will will automatically become invalid unless it
specifically states that is being made in contemplation of marriage. If
you get divorced, your divorced spouse is not entitled to any assets under
your Will unless you specifically say so.
A Power of Attorney
A power of attorney is just as important as a will. A Will comes into
effect on your death whereas a power of attorney operates during your
life and it is equally important that you make sure you choose the right
attorney to look after your affairs.
